Shock Wave Treatment

  How can Shock Wave treatment help you?

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment usually offered when chronic symptoms have persisted for a least 3-6 months and have not responded to conservative treatments such as physiotherapy, activity modification, ice therapy, orthotics, pain killers and steroid injection.

Conditions that are treated with Shock Wave therapy 

Shock wave therapy can be used to treat a wide range of chronic tendon problems in the hip, knee, shoulder, elbow. Achilles and sole of the foot. It is recommended for conditions such as 

· Plantar Fasciitis (Heel pain)

· Tennis or Golfers elbow 

· Tendinitis of the shoulder 

· Achilles tendinitis 

· Greater Trochanteric pain syndrome (lateral hip pain) 

· Hamstring tendinitis 

Soft tissue / Joint Injections Treatments

  Steroid injections have been used for many years as a quick and effective treatment for soft tissue conditions, joint pain and inflammation throughout the body. 

At JMPS, steroid injections are used alongside and individually tailored patient assessment and physiotherapy pain management programme to enable the most effective recovery from the injury or condition.

What conditions are Steroid injections recommended for?

Steroid injections are often recommended for people with painful conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and other types of inflammatory arthritis, bursitis and tendinitis. They deliver anti inflammatory medication into painful joints and or soft tissue to reduce pain and inflammation in the area.

They are often recommended if you are unable to tolerate oral anti-inflammatories or if your condition is too painful for you to manage with physiotherapy exercises or if your recovery has slowed down and you feel increasing amounts of pain and discomfort. 

The effects of steroid injection therapy can last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months at a time or sometimes, longer, this depends.

It is also used to reduced joint swelling and pain which will aid mobility and function of the joint and surrounding tissues.

JMPS Body MOT

  How can JMPS Body MOT help you?

This is one of our most popular physiotherapy treatments. 

Highly recommended 4 – 6 times a year for all active and non-active individuals for improved health, fitness and wellness.

Due to fatigue, aches and pains, generalised stiffness due to age related changes or recovering from surgery or an illness, the body often requires an overall MOT, which at JMPS consists of heat treatment, stretches and soft tissue mobilisation / massages of the painful and stiff body parts – upper and lower limb.

Private Sick / Fit Note

  What is a Sick / Fit Note?

This document can be provided to you by our specialist physiotherapist to confirm that you are unfit for work due to a health condition

The statement of Fitness for work or ‘Fit Note’ can be issued to the patient following a health and work assessment by our specialist physiotherapist.

This will provide advice to you and your employer about the impact of your health condition where that may have an effect on your fitness for work. The ‘Fit note’ is intended to support you stay in or return to work.

Private Medical Prescriptions

  Who needs Private Medical Prescriptions? 

Any individual who is unable to attain an NHS medical prescription, this can be issued to the individual for a small cost, hassle free and speedily from our non-medical prescriber/ Specialist Physiotherapist.
